Education is one of the core activities of the CRB on its aim to support students and executives in understanding the impact of Responsible Business and its value creation in corporate strategies.
The educational efforts of the CRB are developed in two perspectives: Leaders of Today, focused on bachelors and master students of CATÓLICA-LISBON, and Leaders for Tomorrow, focused on Executive Education.
An 18h elective course on “Responsible Business” for the Masters’ degree;
An 18h elective course for Undergraduates on “Strategic Corporate Social Responsibility” that focus on one single message: “Responsible Business” is the only way forward for companies to operate and should be part of the core business strategy, as the source of competitive advantage.
A dissertation seminar for the Masters’ students on “Responsible Business”, to prepare and support the students on writing their thesis and make a scientific contribution to the field.
Purpose Driven Business Course
An intensive 4-week intensive online course, fully taught in Portuguese, with personalized accompaniment and feedback for each student. This program aims to provide its participants with tools that allow them to define the best strategies to build a Purpose Driven Business.
It covers
- An introduction on purpose in the business context;
- Business case for action: how to incorporate sustainability in the strategy to create competitive advantage;
- The “purpose” as a new paradigm and criteria for decision making;
- Wrap up: an interactive session for discussion.
The Program is coordinated and taught by our Executive Director, Nuno Moreira da Cruz, with Filipa Pires de Almeida as the tutor.
Open course in “Responsible Business: Next Source of Competitive Advantage
A 32h course that aims to provide a better understanding of the relevance of being a Responsible Business and to prepare the participants to engage in internal discussions on how to integrate the notion of responsible business in their core business strategies and to present the processes that can lead to the definition of these strategies.
It covers:
- What is the context and how did we get here. Meaning of “Responsible Business” and “Purpose”
- The Sustainable Development Goal as a strategy
- Responsible Business as Strategy. Shared Value model and Stakeholders.
- Social Innovation
- Sustainable Business Models (4h)
- Business Case for Action
- Business Ethics
- The ‘Responsibilities’ of the Modern Corporation

- How do these concepts apply to your company? Value creation.
- CEO Panel: what “Responsible Business” means in your company?
The Program is coordinated and taught by our Executive Director and includes key lectures from other professors, as CATÓLICA-LISBON Dean and Academic Director Filipe Santos (Social Innovation), João César da Neves (Ethics), René Bohnsack (Sustainable Business Models), and Omar El Nayal (Strategy, Entrepreneurship, and Innovation).
