PRE-COURSES

CATÓLICA-LISBON offers to all students that enroll in our finance programs the possibility to complete pre-courses designed to strengthen the foundations on several key areas before the program starts:

  • Advanced Excel
  • Introduction to VBA
  • Introduction to Finance
  • Introduction to Accounting
     

These are, for the most part, optional online courses that present a great degree of flexibility, adaptable to our master student’s needs and availability. To provide the best possible experience, students benefit from the help of an expert throughout each course. The Advanced Excel course prepares students to the Microsoft Excel Certification.

keyboard_arrow_up Professional Internship Requirement (mandatory)

Professional Internship: non-credit granting company internship with a minimum duration of 6 weeks (240 hours). Prior professional experience can be used to satisfy this requirement (subject to validation by the Careers & Talent Office), if completed after June 1st of the year prior to beginning of the MSc program.

keyboard_arrow_up International Experience (mandatory)

To obtain a valuable international experience and further improve your knowledge, you can pursue a Double Degree or complete an exchange semester in one of CATÓLICA-LISBON’s prestigious partner schools around the world. 

Alternatively, the international requirement can be completed via an international internship (6 weeks minimum) either during or before starting the MSc program, in a country other than Portugal or your home country. An international internship fulfils two requirements: International and Professional experiences.

keyboard_arrow_up Language Requirement (mandatory)

Until the time of completion of the MSc degree, you must show evidence of proficiency in two foreign languages other than your native language.

keyboard_arrow_up Study trip (optional)

Our International MSc in Finance students will have the chance to do a study trip. Study trips are great opportunities to learn about new industries, locations, and roles. In 2020, our students were able to get to know the most fascinating companies and their culture, mission as well as available opportunities in Dublin, Amsterdam or Luxembourg.

Our students will have the opportunity to enroll in several workshops with international guest speakers.

keyboard_arrow_up 3rd Semester | Thesis Project

The Master thesis is the culmination of your master program. This is when you build on the knowledge and skills acquired during the program to develop an individual project on a topic that resonates with your career aspirations and helps you excel in an area you find professionally relevant. 

The thesis project requires the completion of a research methodologies workshop, designed to provide you with advice, resources and useful tools for the development of your dissertation.
