The 2016 Lisbon Accounting Conference organized by Catolica Lisbon and Nova School of Business and Economics brought together leading international accounting scholars in an informal setting for a one-day conference of high-quality academic papers.
The main theme of this year’s conference was Accounting, Regulation and Banking. The conference counted with researchers from the University of North Carolina, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, University of Chicago, Boston University, IESE Business School, Boston College, Rotterdam School of Management, London School of Economics, London Business School, Lancaster University, University of Mannheim and University of Auckland, within many others.
Some of the topics discussed included whether strict regulators contribute to a more transparent banking system and the effect of CDS trading on syndicated loans. The conference also included a panel on Accounting and Regulation headed by Dra. Adelaide Cavaleiro e Dr. Pedro Pereira from the Financial Stability Department of Banco de Portugal.
