Católica Lisbon School of Business & Economics was one of the six finalists for the AMBA & BGA Excellence Awards 2022 in the Best Business School Partnership category delivered by the Association of MBAs. The awards ceremony took place today, at 4 p.m., online.
This distinction was awarded to the Pact for Water Management, an initiative launched by the Center for Responsible Business & Leadership of CATÓLICA-LISBON which aims to put the issue of good water management at the center of the national agenda. The purpose is to promote greater awareness, knowledge and dissemination of good practices to improve water management and prevent the risks associated with water scarcity.
For Filipe Santos, Dean of CATÓLICA-LISBON, "it is an honor to receive this recognition from the AMBA & BGA Excellence Awards 2022 in the category Best Business School Partnerships with the Pact for Water Management, an impact coalition built with a consortium of Portuguese companies. We believe that Business Schools, due to their knowledge, network and position in society, can play a central role, in partnership with business, in solving the most pressing challenges of sustainable development, promoting SDG 17 of Partnerships for the Goals. CATÓLICA-LISBON, the leading business school in Portugal, is playing this role by involving a coalition of more than 30 Portuguese companies and institutions in the strategic resolution of the problem of water scarcity in Portugal."
Nuno Moreira da Cruz, Executive Director of the Center for Responsible Business & Leadership, states that "since the Center was created, we have always had the ambition of gathering the ‘living forces’ of society in the common search for solutions to the environmental and social problems that concern Humanity today. Water is certainly one of them, and we are very proud that so many institutions have joined this project. For our part, we will do everything to ensure that the Pact grows solid and with concrete responses to the challenges of water."
The Pact for Water Management comes in the wake of the Water Summit organized, in June 2020, by the Center for Responsible Business & Leadership of CATÓLICA-LISBON, with the aim of providing all participants with a clear understanding of the challenges associated with the use of water for the business world, in an integrated logic and along the value chains. Following this event, the various entities considered that a coordinated effort was warranted to try and transform this initiative into something more permanent and structured.
The founding members of the Pact for Water Management include the Esporão Group, Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, Jerónimo Martins, L'Oréal Portugal, Microsoft, Pestana Hotel Group, Scubic, Sugal Group, SuperBock Group, Tintex Textiles, Veolia, and the accelerators BGI and Beta-i.
The AMBA & BGA Excellence Awards aim to celebrate the quality and the goals achieved in excellence of leadership by Business Schools around the world.
