Pedro Encarnação, Senior Affiliate Professor at Católica Lisbon was nominated Senior Visiting Researcher of the School of Sociology and Social Policy, Faculty of Social Sciences, of the University of Leeds, for a period of three years (2022-2025). This visiting title award formalizes the ongoing collaboration with Professor Angharad Beckett, joint director of the Centre for Disability Studies. The Centre for Disability Studies (CDS) is a world-leader in the fields of sociology of disability, disability politics and policy, disability law and human rights, inclusive design (transport systems and assistive technologies) and Deaf Studies. Pedro will contribute with his expertise in assistive technologies, working with CDS colleagues to identify new avenues for interdisciplinary research. It is expected that this collaboration will foster joint research projects combining the sociologic and human rights perspective on disability with the assistive technologies field, aiming at more holistic contributions towards a more inclusive society.
