Manuela Athayde Marques is currently a non-executive Board Member of Banco Santander Totta since January 2019. As an independent Director, she seats in the Audit Commission of the Bank. She is also a member of the Risk Committee and of the Remunerations Committee of the Bank.
 
Since September 2014, she is a non-executive Member of the Board of Directors of the European Money Markets Institute, an international non-profit making Association under Belgian law that is a provider of critical market benchmarks, such as Euribor and Eonia. She is also a member of the Institute’s Audit and Risk Committee since December 2019.
 
Manuela Athayde Marques was with the Portuguese Banking Association (APB) from 2009, first as Head of its Economic and Financial Advisory Centre and second as its Secretary-General since March 2014 to end of 2018. In this capacity, she seated in the Executive Committee of the European Banking Federation (EBF). She was also a Member of the Management Committee of the Deposit Guarantee Scheme appointed by the Portuguese Banking Association from June 2016 to December 2018.

Manuela Athayde Marques is an Assistant Professor at Católica Lisbon School of Business and Economics (CLSBE) where she has taught in this capacity since 1996 a wide range of courses in Finance at the MBA, Executive Training, Masters, and Undergraduate Programs in Business Administration (currently, on a non-paid temporary leave).

Manuela Athayde Marques is an INSEAD Certified Director in Corporate Governance following the successful completion of its 2018 Modern Governance in Banking Program (IDP). She holds a Doctorate Degree (Ph.D.) in Business Finance from The University of Glasgow, and a Graduate (Bachelor + Master Degree) in Business Administration and Management from CATÓLICA-LISBON.
