Tokai Bank Distinguished Professor of International Finance at the Kellogg School of Management, where he has served as Chair of the Finance Department. He has published widely in macroeconomics and international finance and has won numerous research and teaching awards, including Kellogg’s Professor of the Year Award. He has served as a consultant to the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, the European Central Bank, the McKinsey Global Institute, and the Global Markets Institute at Goldman Sachs. He received his PhD in Economics from the University of Rochester. He was an undergraduate in Economics at Católica Lisbon School of Business & Economics, where he also served as Director of the Finance MBA program.
