Who is it aimed for:

Leaders of various levels (superiors, bursars, parish priests, administrators and other ecclesial , religious and lay leaders), with management and leadership responsibilities in the various entities under the responsibility of the Catholic Church (Dioceses, Religious Congregations, Parishes, Catholic Schools, IPSS's and similar institutions, mercies and other ecclesial structures);
Candidates for the functions of directing ecclesial or equivalent structures.

The Social Organizations Eclesiais have been playing a fundamental role in our communities. The Management and Leadership course for Ecleasiais Executives, conducted by Universidade Católica Portuguesa, allowed me to have access to a wide range of knowledge that became fundamental to my creativity and entrepreneurship for my academic path, due to the scientific quality of its content and staff, the capability to connect the theorical teachings with the reality of the institutions, and the enhancing networking between colleagues.

I had the opportunity to participate in the first Management and Leadership Program for Ecclesial Leaders, organized by Universidade Católica Portuguesa. It was an excellent opportunity to review concepts, deepen knowledge, broaden my horizons and share the concerns and challenges we encounter on a day-to-day basis. It was also enriching to be able to mingle with people who share similar beliefs and, most of all, to interact with a Faculty of extremely competent professionals in the different areas covered by the program, allowing me to improve the performance and execution of the tasks I have in Administrative and Financial Management.

Management and Leadership are still two of the most important transversal pillars in the contemporary business world. To be able to address and discuss these concepts in an ecclesiastical domain and turn them into a global interest it is even better. To use the two instruments to build an evangelizing environment in our institution, where you can live with an institutional charisma without leaving aside the skill and professionalism, it is a dream come true. The GLDE program was an opportunity to strengthen the two wings (management and leadership), necessary for praising and make a difference in the business world’s environment, which is so wonderful.

Objectives:

To frame juridically, ethically and economically, the activities of the third sector and, in particular, of ecclesial organizations.

Develop the leaders management capacity, reinforcing their rigor and professionalism.

Provide an applied perspective of the management and leadership tools to the specific reality of ecclesial organisations.

To stimulate the entrepreneurial and innovative attitude to creat new projects and making better use of new communication technologies.

Improve effectiveness in leadership of work teams, including how the mission and objectives are defined, the resources organization and the evaluation of results.

Provide practical tools to manage teams' performance, motivation and satisfaction of their elements, in the context of volunteering.

Institutional Statements:

The assignment to help carrying through training actions in management and leadership of the people involved in institution management under Catholic Church responsibility, is part of the Amélia de Mello Fundation’s core. This contribution is also a way to see the results of citizen’s purpose and usage of better management skills, that should always be present in social organizations’ activity in Portugal.
